So thankful to have internet to be able to write this blog. It has not been a good month for internet, and I apologize for not posting sooner...but, c’est la vie ici en Afrique! (I am actually writing this offline, as the internet has been good for emails but I cannot connect to get our blog up, but am hoping this will happen sometime soon)

Only a few pictures for now...

Here is Nathan playing with his lego. We had a great time building (I am one of those that needs a picture and cannot build from my imagination) so I spent a good 10-15 minutes creating a beautiful lego house, an exact replica of the picture...and then he stuck this (very ugly) “hot water heater” on the roof...is he ever his father’s son!!!

Here is Rog with our language tutor, Hamani. We are incredibly thankful for him. He has been through 2 years of college and teaches French, Fulfulde and Zarma. He knows so much of his own language (which I cannot claim I do!) and has been essential to our learning Fulfulde. This language is insane. It has 17 ways of saying “the” and 17 ways of saying just about anything, because the words change depending on the noun that is used! (For example, when you say “the white house”, both the words “the” and “white” are different from if you were to say “the white dog”) Anyway, we are thankful for him. He is also one of the few Christians in this country which also allows us to study biblical terminology. 

These next two pictures are of a meeting being held about the village of Kongu. We want to help these people by teaching them and then having them teach themselves and others, yet they were not coming out to the teachings and a meeting was held to ask if they really wanted us to help them...apparently, they do. But, it is also a very hard year as there is famine, so they said it is hard to come to the teachings when they need to feed their families. Makes sense. We have agreed to help feed their families this year, but the need is so great and there is only so much we can do...

This is a picture of a “walking walmart” (teammate used this term)...they sell just about everything...but the quality of such items are much worse than walmart. (the kid just happened to be walking by while trying to take a picture of the cart)

Last picture is of a traffic jam...caused by...a camel. This is in the capital city of Niger. Yep, we live in Africa!

Will try to post more pictures of the kids next time...they are doing well overall, thank you to all who are praying for us and supporting us to be out here. The temperature is climbing (up to 40 today!) and things are getting warmer...so scared for hot season (no, not here yet!)
